TITLE I - THE TERM "INTERNATIONAL SHOW"

Article 1 - international shows and rules for the World Show

a. In order to obtain the right to organize an International Show and to issue CAC, CAP, CACIB, CAPIB, CAGCIB, CAGPIB, CACE and CAPE, the organizers must inform the FIFe secretariat at least one month in advance of the exact date of the event and comply with the conditions of the present rules.

b. Every year a FIFe World Show will be held and conducted in accordance with the following rules:

i. The FIFe member interested in conducting the show files an application with the FIFe Board. The FIFe Board decides where the show is to be held. As long as unconsidered applications are available, the World Show is not to be allocated to the same country for the second time.

ii. The show date shall be in the period from the 15th October to 15th November. The exact date of a World Cat Show must be fixed at least two years before and must appear clearly in the official FIFe show calender.

iii. Participation in the World Show is only possible for cats that have achieved the following qualification in the thirteen months prior to the show.

Kittens: - Best in Variety or nomination for Best in Show or 3 x EX 1

Addition for class 12 (3 - 6 months):

Kittens 3-6 months may participate in class 12 at the World Show if they have achieved at least 1 x Ex. 1. This qualification is valid only in class 12.

Adults: - Best in Variety

or - Nominationation for Best in Show

or - Each cat with the title IC, IP or higher

or - Each adult cat who got the qualification in the "3 to 10 months" categories during the 13 months before the World Cat Show.

Domestic cats (Class 14) qualify when they have received a nomination for Best-in-Show Domestic Cat.

The qualification for the World Show is checked and confirmed by the Association of the Country where the exhibitor holds the membership.

Each cat winning at the Best In Show will receive the title World Winner also mentioning the year of the show.

iv. No other FIFe show will be allowed in Europe on the same weekend that the FIFe world exhibition takes place.

This restriction does not apply to Norway, Sweden, Great Britain and Iceland.

 C.           Scandinavia (Norway and Sweden) may once a year organize one show in accordance with the rules valid for the FIFe World Show  with exception of FIFe Show Rules article 1.B.b., 1 B d  and

Kittens        3-6 months     Best in Variety or nomination for Best in Show or 1 x Ex. 1

Youngsters     6-10 months     Best in Variety or nomination for Best in Show or 3 x Ex. 1 

Each cat winning at the Best in Show will receive the title Scandinavian Winner (SW) also mentioning the year of the show. The winning cats will have their title registered in their pedigree in the same way as other official FIFe titles.

d. Exhibitions can be held on any day of the week. 2 shows within a week can take place. Each member may organize an indefinite number of 2 one day shows with two certificates per year.

Article 2 - conditions for an International show

1. The shows called 'International' must satisfy the following conditions:

a. that one or several international judge(s) is(are) present and that at least one of these is from a foreign country;

b. that a veterinary surgeon is present at the entrance to the show in order to examine the exhibits and can be reached during the entire show;

At a double certificate show - where the shows are arranged on two consecutive days - those cats that are exhibited on both days - for them the veterinary examination is only to be compulsory the first show day if the show organizers so wish.

c. that the cats have been vaccinated by a veterinary surgeon in accordance with each country's veterinary regulations, against panleukopenia and cat-flu and have had the required boosters, at least 15 days prior to the show.

Vaccination against rabies according to national legislation;

d. that the judges and the staff of the show are covered by an insurance policy. Clubs which cannot insure foreign judges, student-judges and stewards while they are officiating at the show must notify them in advance, so that they are given the opportunity to insure themselves in their own country;

e. it is desired that judges, student-judges and stewards are vaccinated against tetanus in accordance with medical regulations;

f. At least 150 cats must be entered for competition and listed in the catalogue. If the required number of 150 cats is not reached at the final count 14 days before the show, the show must be declared 'National'. Of these 150 exhibits 80% must be pedigree cats.

The amount of cats for Brasil, Argentina and Mexico is reduced to 100.

g. In countries with developing areas, members can ask permission of the FIFe to organize International shows with 120 cats. Written permission by the FIFe can be given only once a year for these specific countries.

h. The amount of cats for Iceland is reduced to 100.

It is forbidden to exhibit wild cats at cat-shows.

Article 3 - request for organising a show

In countries where the clubs are members of a National Federation, the request must be made by the Secretariat of that Federation to the FIFe's Secretariat.

Article 4 - licence fee for organising a show

The request for a license to organize an international show is subject to a fee in Swiss Francs, the amount of which is fixed by the General Assembly. The actual amount is Euro 180 and for national shows Euro 60. If a two day show is separated according to the categories in two days, payment is due for only one show.

Article 5 - distance between shows

a. If several shows (national or international) are planned for the same day, there must be no less than 400 km (by road or rail) between the different locations.

The show first applied for takes priority.

Show dates may only be booked up to 10 calendar years in advance. Existing dates, already booked, may stand

Only shows giving a fixed date and place will be protected by the 400 km rule. Those shows which, in the first instance give no fixed place, will not be accepted if their subsequently submitted place is within 400 km of an already accepted show.

Cat shows held in cities less than 400 km apart may be organized on the same date providing the respective FIFe members agree. Written agreements from the clubs must be sent to the FIFe Secretary at least two months before the date of the show.

b. Exceptions are:

i. Norway, Sweden, Great Britain and Iceland;

ii. overseas countries;

which may organize shows even when a show is held less than 400 km away on the European continent.

iii. The judges examination can be taken either during an international one day show or during an international two days show or on the first day of a two certificate show where at least 50 cats of the respective category I, II, and III or 40 cats of the category IV are entered.

iv. FIFe judges are permitted to judge on CFA shows outside of Europe and CFA judges are permitted to judge at FIFe shows. The permission is restricted to the categories in which the judge is licensed by his/her own organisation.

Article 6 - the FIFe rosette

A FIFe rosette shall be awarded at each international show.

TITLE II - THE ORGANIZATION OF NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL SHOWS

Article 7 - conditions for a national show

The following Articles of Title I apply for the organization of a National Show:

- article 1 by replacing CACE, CAPE, CAGCIB, CAGPIB, CACIB and CAPIB by CAC and CAP;

- article 2 by replacing the text under f with: the number of cats exhibited must be at least 80, and 80 % thereof must be registered in LO or RIEX books.

- articles 3, 4 and 5.

Article 8 - the organiser's responsibility

The organisers must:

  1. choose the judges from those appearing on the official list of FIFe judges, as well as those who are not affiliated and recognized by FIFe (selected independent clubs in England and America), on condition that they may only judge breeds and varieties which they are entitled to judge in their own country, and must be reported to the FIFe Secretariat.

xxb. send the affiliated societies a schedule stating:

  • the date of the show
  • the location and address of the showhall
  • the closing date for registration
  • the amount of the entry fee
  • availability or not of accommodation for cats on the night before the show and during the following nights
  • names of the judges and the category they are to judge, i.e., I (PER/EXO), II (Semi-longhair), III (Shorthair/SOM), IV (Oriental cats)
  • a list of hotels where cats are admitted in order to allow exhibitors to make their own reservations
  • entry requirements concerning health and border formalities
  • opening and closing times of the show
  • Account numbers (bank or others) to which payment of the entry fees must be effected.

xxc. the show management is obliged to keep the following documents for a minimum period of three years :

  • all copies of judges reports
  • copies of the list stating the cats nominated for the selection of Best in Show
  • original list of the cats proposed by each judge
  • a show catalogue including results.

xxd. The show management is obliged to transfer the necessary documents to the judge before the judging.

xxxe. In the Judge's ring there must be cages available for a minimum number of 4 cats near the judge's table.

xxf. 14 days before the show, the organiser is obliged to send the judges which are judging at the particular show, the name and address of the hotel. The judges must also be informed as to the transfer to the hotel.

xxg. it is mandatory that the judges cages will be equipped with partitions.

xxh. Each FIFe member may organize cat shows according to the following procedures:

  • The cats on show are brought to the judge and back to their cages by stewards.
  • The steward will take reasonable actions to avoid presenting his own cat.
  • The owner, or a person choosen by the owner may present his cat to the judge. In cases where owners, for whatever reason, cannot present their cats to the judge, stewards may be made available. Such shows will be marked with a special sign in the show list (for example *).
  • The exhibitor himself has the possibility of placing the cat inside the appropriate judging cage.
  • Each jugde has his judging cages
  • Each judge has a steward at his own disposal
  • The steward calls up the cats (cage number) which the judge requires or places the number on the cage.
  • Once all the cats are inside the appropriate judging cages, the exhibitors must leave the judges ring.
  • The judge begins the judging and the cats are presented to him by a steward.
  • If an owner is not able - or does not wish - to bring his cat(s) to the judging cage himself the steward is obliged to fetch the cat and to place it inside the appropriate judging cage.
  • A cat is only to be reported as "absent" once the steward has checked with the show secretariat.
  • Once the judge has completed his judging or once the judges results have been given, the judge or his steward will ask the owners to collect their cat(s), or the steward takes the cat back to the show cage.
  • During the "Best in Show" only the stewards are permitted to present the cats.

Article 9 - Payment of show entry fees

Payment of show entry fees:

a. The possibility exists to send the proof of payment to each pertinent FIFe member (Eurocheck, postal money order, cash etc.). The responsible FIFe club will forward his entry together with the certification to the federation organizing the show.

b. or alternately, the national federation will list the entry fees and forward the complete amount of the entry fees to the pertinent show organizer within 8 days after the show.

Article 10 - showing abroad

Exhibitors, wishing to take part in shows abroad, must send their entry forms to the Secretariat of their National Federation or Club in order to have the cats' qualifications and dates of birth checked. The duly authorized controller will then stamp the entry forms before their dispatch to the organizers of the show. Entry forms sent directly, without the endorsement of the National Federation or Club, will be refused.

Article 11 - cats appearing in the catalogue

a. All entries in the catalog are liable for payment of the entry fee even in case of absence. If the exhibitor is unable to attend due to unforseen circumstances before closing date (Date of postmarked letter is decisive), he is obliged to inform the organizers in writing.

b. Only cats appearing in the catalogue may compete.

c. Before the end of the exhibition it is not allowed to take the cats out of exhibition without special permission of the organizer.

Article 12 - responsility for the organising club concerning exhibitors and visitors

The organizing club is responsible for:

  1. sending confirmation of acceptance to foreign exhibitors at least two weeks prior to the show;
  • The confirmation of acceptance, which is to be forwarded from the show organizer to the exhbitor, has to include the names of at least 80 % of the definitively acting judges.
  • Exceptions: unforseen events,accidents, illnesses, etc.

xxb. setting the registration fee for each of its shows;

xxc. controlling the necessary arrangements and security of the show. It should be noted in particular that it is prohibited to place cages on top of one another. Cages must be of sufficient size (minimum: 50 x 50 x 50 cm per cat), in order to ensure the comfort of the exhibit.

  • One cat per single cage, a maximum of three cats per double cage. Exceptions are made for litters.
  • There must be a minimum of 1,25 m walking space for the visitors between the rows of cages .

xxd. sending a catalogue within 40 days after the show and all results to the national Federation or Club whose members took part in the show;

xxe. observing age classification; the first or second day of the show being decisive.

TITLE III - ADMISSION TO SHOWS

Article 13 - showing in non-FIFe clubs

1. In a country where a FIFe member does not exist and where legislation does not allow affiliation, the members of a club are allowed to exhibit their cats at shows held under the auspices of FIFe. The entry forms for these exhibitors must be sent together with copies of titles won by the entered cat in order to have these checked.

2. FIFe members are allowed to show their cats in CFA shows outside of Europe and CFA members are allowed to show in FIFe shows outside of Europe.

Article 14 - minimum age of cats and cutting of tips of nails

1. The minimum age of a cat must be at least three months during the show. This rule applies to International and National Shows, Seminars and Breed and Propaganda Shows.

2. Cats must have the tips of the nails cut when presented to the judge.

Article 15 - not admitted to shows, tattoed cats and cats competing according to phenotype

a. Not admitted to shows are:

- Lactating queens

- Queens which are pregnant.

- Cats which have been declawed

- Deaf cats - White cats must have a veterinarian certificate stating that they are not deaf.

b. Admitted to Shows are:

- Tattooed cats.

- A cat may compete at shows according to phenotype if this differs from its known genotype. In these cases not only the known genotype, but even the cat’s phenotype must be noted in the pedigree. The phenotype must be in accordance with the description in the EMS and must be written in brackets.

Article 16 - excluded from competition

The following cats must be excluded from competition:

a. aggressive cats - if two stewards are unable to take a cat out of its cage, it may not compete. If a cat is aggressive at three shows, it is left to the discretion of the National Federation or Club whether or not to withdraw the cat from future competition;

b. A cat showing any testicular anomaly. This rule is not applicable for cats below the age of ten months. In case of a dispute, the final decision rests with the officiating veterinary surgeon. The judge must mention this fact on the judges report. Descended testes certificates must be issued to males which have turned 10 month;

c. doped cats. Cats which have had tranquillizers administered, affecting the nervous system and/or substances that extend the pupils of the eyes. In case of a matter in dispute, the final decision rests with the officiating veterinary surgeon;

d. cats which have been given cosmetic treatment (dyeing, colour rinsing,), or are powdered excessively;

e. cats which have been declawed (amputated);

f. cats which show obvious signs of bad health. The final decision rests with the officiating veterinary surgeon;

g. cats showing lack of cleanliness, e.g., dirty ears, presence of parasites;

h. cats with poly- or olygodactyli;

i. cats which do not pass the veterinary examination at the entrance to the show or those cats which the veterinarian determines to be ill during the show must be put into quarantine immediately;

j. nanism;

k. blind cats;

l. cross-eyed cats;

m. all white spots which are not allowed in the standard;

n. cats which are showing umbilicalhernia;

Article 17 - faults excluding certificates

General faults which exclude certificates:

a. any tail deformation (exept neuters);

b. overshot or undershot jaw exceeding 2 mm;

c. crooked jaw;

d. tendancy to squint;

e. eye injures (e.g. cornea injures);

f. undernourished or obesc cats;

g. any abnormal depressions, protrusions or fissures in the skull and deformity of the skull resulting in an asymmetrical face and/or head;

h. Deformity of the rib cage including flat chest or any fixed deviation of the sternum or xiphisternum;

i. any apparent deformity of the spine and any apparent weakness in the hindquarters;

j. persistant exposure of tongue and/or teeth;

k. cut teeth (no „Excellent");

l. abnormal size and form of the eyes and eyelids (ectropium/entropium).

Article 18- symptoms of sickness during the show

If during the show the officiating veterinary surgeon discovers a cat showing symptoms of any sickness, the cat in question, together with all other cats belonging to the same exhibitor, must be removed immediately from the show hall.

TITLE IV - THE TITLES EUROPEAN CHAMPION, (FIFE AMERICAN CHAMPION), EUROPEAN PREMIER, (FIFE AMERICAN PREMIER) GRAND INTERNATIONAL CHAMPION, GRAND INTERNATIONAL PREMIER, INTERNATIONAL CHAMPION, INTERNATIONAL PREMIER, CHAMPION, PREMIER, BEST IN SHOW, BEST IN VARIETY, WORLD WINNER, DISTINGUISHED MERIT (DM)

Article 19 - abbreviations and obtaining the title Champion or Premier

Abbreviations:

Distinguished Show Merit - DSM

In order to obtain the title Champion or Premier, a cat must have been awarded three CAC's or CAP's, respectively, by three different judges during three national or international shows under the auspices of FIFe.

CAC's are awarded in the 'Open' class.

CAP's are awarded in the 'Neuter' class.

Article 20 - obtaining the title International Champion or International Premier

In order to obtain the title International Champion or International Premier, a cat must have been awarded three CACIB's or CAPIB's by three different judges in two different countries during international shows under the auspices of FIFe. After having obtained two CACIB's or CAPIB's in the same country, the cat must acquire the third CACIB or CAPIB in another country. (Exceptions are made for members as outlined in article 5 b, Annex 1, 3, 4 and 6.

CACIB's are awarded in the 'Champion' class.

CAPIB's are awarded in the 'Premier' class.

Article 21 - obtaining the title Grand International Champion or Grand International Premier

In order to obtain the title Grand International Champion or Grand International Premier, a cat must have been awarded six CAGCIB's or CAGPIB's by three different judges in three different countries during international shows under the auspices of FIFe. After having obtained four CAGCIB's or CAGPIB's in the same country, the cat must acquire the fifth and sixth CAGCIB or CAGPIB in another country. Exceptions are made for members as outlined in article 5b and Annex 1, 3 4, 5 and 6.

CAGCIB's are awarded in the 'International Champion' class.

CAGPIB's are awarded in the 'International Premier' class.

Article 22 - obtaining the title European Champion or European Premier

In order to obtain the title European Champion (FIFe American Champion) or European Premier (FIFe American Premier), a cat must have been awarded nine CACE's or CAPE's by three different judges in three different countries during international shows under the auspices of FIFe. After having obtained seven CACE's or CAPE's in the same country, the cat must acquire the eighth and ninth CACE or CAPE in another country. Exceptions are made for members as outlined in article 5 b and Annex 3, 5 and 6.

CACE's are awarded in the 'Grand International Champion' class.

CAPE's are awarded in the 'Grand International Premier' class.

Article 23 - countersigning

If a judge has already awarded previously a certificate to an exhibit, wich he has to judge again for a new certificate, another officiating judge can be asked, by request of the owner, to countersign the new certificate. In this case the two certificates are to be considered as given by two different judges.

National judges in Non-European FIFe member Countries can award a CAC or CAP without a countersignature.

Article 24 - certificates

The cat's name must be mentioned on certificates accompanying the judge's report. Otherwise, the cat's name must be put on the judge's report by the organizers as soon as Best in Show judging is terminated.

Article 25 - moving to a higher class

As soon as an exhibit has obtained a valid title (3, 6, or 9 certificates), it is obligatory for this cat to be exhibited in the following higher class, in consideration of articles 20,21 and 22. A cat cannot obtain three identical certificates (respectively 6 or 9 ) -superior to CAC/CAP- in the same country.

Article 26 - withholding certificates and disqualification

The judges are at liberty to withhold a certificate (CACE, CAPE, CAGCIB, CAGPIB, CACIB, CAPIB, CAC, CAP, BIV), if in their opinion the exhibit, placed first, does not possess sufficient merit. The signature of a second judge is not compulsory. The reason for withholding a certificate must be stated on the report.

A judges report has to be established for each exhibit, even in case of disqualification, but, however, without qualification, except for those cats, which are to be disqualified according to art. 16 par. f) and par. g) if parasites are present. The reason of disqualification has to be stated on the judge's report and the veterinarian must contersign the report.

Article 27 - registration in the LO or RIEX

All cats must be registered either in the LO or RIEX of the FIFe members with the exception of Domestic Cats and Novices.

Article 28 - approval of titles

The CAC, CAP, CACIB, CAPIB, CAGCIB, CAGPIB, CACE, CAPE, which are recognized as qualifications for the titles Champion, Premier, International Champion, International Premier, Grand International Champion, Grand International Premier, European Champion and European Premier will become valid only after approval by the National Federation or National Club to which the exhibitor belongs.

In order to obtain a title, the owner of a cat must notify the National Secretariat within the next month about the receipt of a third CAC, CAP, CACIB, CAPIB; a sixth CAGCIB, CAGPIB or a ninth CACE, CAPE.

Article 29 - Best in Show

Best in Show

The Best in Show can be chosen from:

Overall:

Category I (PER/EXO), II (Semi-longhair), III (Shorthair/SOM) and IV (Oriental cats)

Separate: (PER/EXO) I

- Semi-longhair II

- Shorthair/SOM III

- Oriental cats IV

BIS Conditions:

that the cats are presented by stewards

In the Best in Show Panel the organizer must provide each judge with a list containing the catalogue number, the sex and the EMS code of the nominated cat presented for the Best in Show Jury.

that the cats have to be presented with their catalog- and corresponding variety number.

that they are examined and handled by each member of the Best-in-show jury;

that this examination is done in public;

it is up to the show organizers to have a secret ballot or public voting. The judges must be notified in advance of the desired method.

that each candidate presented by the judge has obtained at least 97 points;

that judges, not taking part in the Best in Show panel (probational judges), must present their best exhibits;

that when Best in Show is OVERALL, the panel is composed of at least one international All-Breed judge;

that when Best in Show is SEPARATE, international judges in their specific categories can be called upon.

in order to be presented for Best in Show, the adult candidate must have been awarded the title Best in Variety.

However, if the number of cats required is insufficient, the judge can present a cat, which has obtained at least 97 points but was not awarded Best-of-Variety;

A judge may nominate an adult cat for Best in Show adult even if it has been beaten by a kitten 6-10 or 3-6 months, or by another adult of the opposite sex in the same variety provided it has obtained at least 97 points.

A judge may nominate a neuter even if it has been beaten by another neuter of the opposite sex in the same variety, provided it has obtained at least 97 points.

Probational judges are excluded from the Best in Show jury, but must be present at the panel.

In cases where the votes are equal, a decision will be made by one of two methods:

a. by a referee judge officiating at the show who is qualified for that category

b. by lot

When a judge has completed judging and nominations for one or more categories have been selected, it is not permitted for this judge to recommence judging other cats of the same categories.

That a judge should not abstain from voting during the Best-in-Show.

Article 30 - Best in Variety = 95 points

a. Best in variety will be chosen by the judge among all cats of one variety disregarding age or sex under the condition, that at least 3 exhibits of this variety are present.

b. In case of a lager amount of competitors a maximum of 3 different BIV can be decided on (kitten 3-6 months, kitten 6-10 months and adults) under application of the a.m.rule. See examples enclosed.

c. Neuter compete separately among themselves except for cats below the age of 10 months.

d. If a kitten of 6-10 months (class 11) is awarded BIV, the judge can still nominate the kitten 3-6 months (class 12) of the same variety and vice versa.

Article 31 - BIV, NOM and BIS on the result sheet

The titles Best in Show and Best in Variety and Nomination for Best in Show must be indicated on the result sheets.

Article 32 - neuters participation in BIV and BIS

Neuters do not participate in Best in Show nor in Best in Variety.

They compete among themselves for the titles Best in Variety Neuter and Best Neuter.

Article 33 - the title World Winner

Each cat winning at the Best in Show at a World Show will receive the title World Winner, also mentioning the year of the show.

Article 34 - Distinguished Merit (DM)

In order to obtain the Titel Distinguished Merit (DM), a female cat must have produced at least 5 cats which gained the title Int.Ch./Int.Pr. and a male cat must have produced at least 10 cats which gained the title Int.Ch./Int. Pr.

Only FIFe registered titles are valid. The "DM" will be placed after the cats full name.

TITLE V - SHOW CLASSES

Article 35 - non recognised varieties and breeds

Classification is according to FIFe-rules.

The age of all exhibits must appear on the judge's report.

The standard applied is the standard recognized by FIFe.

Exhibits, which do not belong to a recognized variety can be entered under a breed number, with the addition of the letter 'x' in the case of an unrecognized colour. For example: PER x, EXO x, SBI x, BRI x, ABY x, BUR x, ORI x.

These cats, whose colour variety is not recognized, will receive a qualification (Excellent-Very Good-Good) and will be classified, but will not receive a certificate (CAC, CAP or more).These cats may not compete for Best in Show.

Cats belonging to an unrecognized breed will only be classified 'I, II, III, etc.' and will not receive a qualification. This concerns:

- XLH Longhair- progeny,

- XSH Shorthair progeny,

- all domestic cats,

- all non-recognized breeds listed in the FIFe registration programme.

These cats may not compete for Best in Show, but may compete together for a 'Best of Unrecognized Variety or Breed'.

Article 36 - competing in the correct class

A cat can only compete in a class to which it belongs.

Article 37 - competing in the neuter classes

When a Champion, International Champion, Grand International Champion or European Champion is neutered, it may, while retaining its title, be eligible for the titles Premier, International Premier, Grand International Premier or European Premier in the Neuter classes.

Article 38 - terms of competing in the different classes

Clubs and Federations of Clubs must adhere to the FIFe-rules for the following classes:

Class 1 - European Champion, FIFe American Champion (overseas countries)

Class 2 - European Premier, FIFe American Premier (overseas countries)

Class 3 - Grand International Champion (CACE)

Class 4 - Grand International Premier (CAPE)

Class 5 - International Champion (CAGCIB)

Class 6 - International Premier (CAGPIB)

Class 7 - Champion (CACIB)

Class 8 - Premier (CAPIB)

Class 9 - Open (CAC)

Class 10 - Neuter (CAP)

EUROPEAN CHAMPION (FIFE AMERICAN CHAMPION)

This class is open to cats, which have already received the title 'European Champion',`FIFe American Champion' and comply with the conditions of article 22. This class is subdivided with regard to breed, variety and sex and so for all categories. The exhibit will receive a report marked 'Price of Honour' and will no longer be classified.

EUROPEAN PREMIER (FIFe American Premier)

This class is open to cats, which have already obtained the title 'European Premier',`FIFe American Premier' and the same rules apply as for European Champions, however, only for all neutered cats.

GRAND INTERNATIONAL CHAMPION

This class is open to cats, which have already received the title 'Grand International Champion' and comply with the conditions of article 21. This class is subdivided with regard to breed, variety and sex and applies to all categories. In this class a CACE is awarded.

GRAND INTERNATIONAL PREMIER

This class is open to cats, which have already obtained the title 'Grand International Premier', and the same rules apply as for Grand International Champions, however, only for all neutered cats. In this class a CAPE is awarded.

INTERNATIONAL CHAMPION

This class is open to cats, which have already received the title 'International Champion' and comply with the conditions of article 20. This class is subdivided with regard to breed, variety and sex and applies to all categories.

In this class a CAGCIB is awarded.

INTERNATIONAL PREMIER

This class is open to cats, which have already obtained the title

'International Premior', and the same rules apply as for Inter national Champions, however, only for all neutered cats.

In this class a CAGPIB is awarded.

CHAMPION

This class is open to cats, which have already received the title 'Champion'. This class is sub-divided with regard to breed, variety and sex and applies to all categories. In this class a CACIB is awarded.

PREMIER

This class is open to neutered cats which have already obtained the title 'Premior', and the same rules apply as for Champions, however, only for all neutered cats. In this class a CAPIB is awarded.

OPEN

This class is open to cats, which are registered in the LO or RIEX of a federation or club affiliated to the FIFe, and aged 10 months during the show (see Title II, article 12e)..

This class is subdivided with regard to breed, variety, and sex and applies to all categories.

In this class a CAC is awarded.

NEUTER

This class is open to all neutered cats, which are registered in the LO or RIEX of a federation or club, affiliated to the FIFe, and aged 10 months during the show (see Title II, article 12e).

This class is subdivided with regard to breed, variety, and sex and neuters in all categories.

In this class a CAP is awarded.

KITTENS 6-10 MONTHS

This class is open to cats, which are registered in the LO or RIEX of a federation or club, affiliated to the FIFe, and aged 6 months during the show, but not yet 10 months old.

KITTENS 3-6 MONTHS

The same rules outlined for kittens from 6 to 10 months apply to kittens aged 3 months, but not yet 6 months old.

Cats competing within classes 1 up to 12 can also compete for Best in Variety with regard to article 30 for non-neuters resp. article 32 for neuters and for Best in Show with regard to article 29.

NOVICE CLASS

A cat can only be exhibited in the "Novice" class at a minimum age of 10 months in its own country after having been checked by the National Breeeding Committee with regard to FIFe's Breeding and Registration Rules. The judges must be informed in writing of the reason why the exhibit is in this class. A novice can only be exhibited once in the "Novice"-class. Two signatures of different judges are obligatory. The novice cat must obtain the qualification "EXCELLENT," respectively "I" for non recognized breeds, in order to authorize registration.

CONTROL CLASS

A cat can be checked in the Control class at the request of the National Breeding Committee or at the request of the breeder/exhibitor. In this class cats are checked by two international FIFe judges and this may be done before the official judging starts. The show organiser must provide the judges with a written explanation as to why the cat is presented in this class.

DOMESTIC CATS

The domestic cats should be judged according to the FIFe Standard (see Title V, article 35).

Article 39 - additional classes

The organizing club is allowed to establish the following additional classes with regard to their local customs for example:

- class for 'Pairs'

- class for 'Studs'

- class for 'Groups'

- class for 'National Breeding'

- class for 'Imported Cats'

- class for 'Catteries'

- class for 'Queens and Studs'

- class for 'Veterans'

The organizing club must inform the judge in advance, that he has to judge additional classes.

The total number of cats to be judged by one judge may not exceed the stipulated number, as outlined in article 16 of the judge's rules.

TITLE VI - RULES CONCERING - JUDGING - QUALIFICATION AND CLASSIFICATION

Article 40 - recognised judges

Only judges recognized by FIFe are allowed to judge at national and international shows, wich are organized by federations or clubs, affiliated to the FIFe.

Article 41 - judges' decisions

Judges' decisions are indisputable.

Article 42 -absent exhibits

Exhibits wich are absent from their cages during judging of the class, to which they belong, cannot be classified later. They can afterwards be qualified by the judge but without classification. Exhibits can only be declared 'ABSENT' on the judges report after consultation with the show's secretariat.

Article 43 - locking of cages

It is prohibited - under penalty of exclusion from competition - to lock the cages with padlocks and to let cats change cages before judgement is finished.

Article 44 - no judging in front of cages

It is prohibited to judge in front of the cages.

Article 45 - judges' ring

a. Access to the judges ring is prohibited to:

- exhibitors, except if the show is organized according to article 8 h-b and 8 h-c.

- members of the organizing committee if they are exhibitors, except if the show is organized according to article 8 h-b and 8 h-c;

- visitors

b. It is obligatory to judge before the public; the judge is free to give explanations and the results.

c. It is forbidden for a judge, pupil judge or steward to have a mobile phone or similar electronical equipment in operation during judging and Best-in-Show. This is also valid for exhibitors in the judges ring.

Article 46 - layout of the judges' report

The layout of the judges' reports must be uniform as far as possible for all shows held under the auspices of FIFe. Headings must be in French, German and English. Organizers are free to add their national language. The judge can write his reports, if he prefers, in the language of the country where the show is organised or in one of the official FIFe languages (French/German/English).

Article 47 - distribution of the judge's report

The organizers must attach the judge's reports to the cages during the show.

Article 48 - the judge's report

The official documents and judge's reports, submitted for signature to the judge before judgement is terminated, may not mention the name of the exhibit nor the name of the owner, but only the number of the exhibit.

The jugde's report must contain at least following data:

Place and date of show, catolog number of the cat to be judged, designation of breed and colour (EMS-Code), date of birth, sex and class in which the cat is going to be judged.

Article 49 - qualifications

The judges award a qualification to each entry in all classes with the exception of:

-European Champions and European Premiors;

-Domestic Cats;

-non-recognized breeds ( non ).

Qualification:

-for a minimum of 88 points: EXCELLENT

-for a minimum of 76 points: VERY GOOD;

-for a minimum of 61 points: GOOD

In the same class the exhibits will be classified with 1, 2, 3 and 4; there is no ex-aequo.

No exhibit can beawarded a CACE or CAPE, unless it has obtained the maximum of 97 points in the class of Grand International Champion or Grand International Premier.

No exhibit can be awarded a CAGCIB or CAGPIB, unless it has obtained the maximum of 96 points in the class of International Champion or International Premier.

No exhibit can be awarded a CACIB or CAPIB, unless it has obtained the qualification EXCELLENT with 95 points in the class of Champion or Premier.

No exhibit can be awarded a CAC or CAP, unless it has obtained the qualification EXCELLENT with 93 points in the Open or Neuter class.

The reason for withholding a certificate has to be stated on the report form (see Article 26).

The 'BEST in VARIETY' title cannot be refused, if the exhibit has obtained the necessary 95 points in its class.

Article 50 - ribbons and rosettes

CAC, CAP, CACIB, CAPIB, CAGCIB, CAGPIB, CACE, CAPE and BIV ribbons or rosettes will be supplied by the organizers.

Article 51 - the catalogue

The catalog must contain a list of all exhibitors with addresses.

The catalog of a cat show must also contain the names and EMS codes of the parents of the exhibits.

Article 52 - sending the show catalogue to the FIFe Secretariat

The show catalogue and a list of results must be sent to the FIFe Secretariat no later than 4 weeks after the show -the list shall contain the awarded CAC, CAP, CACIB, CAPIB, CAGCIB, CAGPIB, CACE, CAPE, Best of Breed and Best in Show.

TITLE VII - RESPONSIBILITY AND EXCLUSION

Article 53 - Observance of the Show Rules and the non-smoking rule

The organizing club of a show is responsible to FIFe for the observance of the Show Rules.

It must provide all judges, especially judges of clubs, not affiliated to FIFe, with all information regarding the application of the rules concerning classes according to article 38 of these rules.

Smoking in show halls is strictly prohibited with the exception of restaurant areas.

Article 54 - violation of the rules

FIFe-members must notify the Board of the FIFe of any violation of the rules demonstrated during a show in a detailed, accurate report.

The FIFe Board will decide according to the Statutes.

Article 55 - investogation by the Show Commission

All cases not catered for in the present rules and all disputes will be investigated by the Show Commission which will then send their report and recommendations to the Board of FIFe, the Board shall report its conclusions to the Show Commission.

Article 56 - Distinguished Show Merit (DSM)

This title is only available at International Shows and is available to all adult cats, including neuters.

To obtain the title, the cat must win "Best in Show" a minimum of 10 times. The shortest qualifying period possible is two years and one day between the first "Best in Show" and the tenth. This is to prevent a cat becoming a DSM too quickly.

Article 57 - Junior Winner (JW)

This title is only available at International Shows. In order to obtain the title, the cat must win "Best in Show" in classes 11 + 12 a minimum of 5 times.

Annex. 1 to the show-rules

By reason of the geographical location and economical situation of Portugal and the present rules of awards for the title of GRAND INTERNATIONAL CHAMPION or PREMIOR being in 3 different countries under 3 different judges and, considering the difficulties for the exhibitors of this country, the following permission is granted starting.

- 7 CAGCIB or CAGPIB

- in two different countries

- with three different judges.

Annex. 2 to the show-rules

1. permit non-FIFe members to participate as exhibitors on FIFe-shows and permit FIFe-members to exhibit on non FIFe-shows;

2. Exhibitors belonging to any non-FIFe organisation may enter cats at FIFe shows under the following conditions:

a. All non-FIFe exhibitors must agree to respect all FIFe Rules and Standards.

b. An adult cat or neuter which does not have a FIFe title must be entered into Class 9 or 10 respectively. A cat with a FIFe title or one possessing certificates towards a FIFe title shall be entered in the appropriate class.

c. All applications from non-Fife exhibitors should be sent in and countersigned by the exhibitor’s own organisation.

d. All entry fees from non-FIFe-members should be paid in accordance with the instructions of the organisers.

3. FIFe certificates may only be obtained at FIFe-shows and are the only certificates valid to obtain a FIFe-title.

4. The World Show is only open for cats of FIFe-members

5. This rule shall be extended for two years until 31.12.2003.

Annex 3 to the show rules

Permit CA of Britain and Kynjakettir Iceland until present quarantine rules remain in existence, and AMIL, Israel because of its geographic location:

All certificates are granted in one country:

- International Champion/Premier 5 CACIB/CAPIB under 3 different judges

- Grand International Champion/Premier 7 CAGCIB/CAGPIBs under 5 different judges

- European Champion/Premier 10 CACE/CAPEs under 7 different judges

Annex 4 to the show rules

Exemption for Russia for three years until 31 December 2005:

1. To obtain the International Champion or Premier a cat must have been awarded five CACIBs or CAPIBs by three different judges in one country.

2. To obtain the title Grand International Champion or Premier the following conditions should apply:

- 7 CAGCIB or CAGPIB in two different countries with three different judges.

Annex 5 to the show rules:

Because of national quarantine rules a cat must meet the following conditions to award international titles higher than IC and IP:

- Grand International Champion: 6 CAGCIB in 2 countries under 4 different judges.

- Grand International Premior: 6 CAGPIB in 2 countries under 4 different judges.

- At least 2 certificates abroad. After having obtained 4 certificates in the same country, the cat must compete in another country (Norway resp. Sweden).

- European Champion: 9 CACE in 2 different countries under 6 different judges.

- European Premier: 9 CAPE in 2 different countries under 6 different judges.

- At least 2 certificates abroad. After having obtained 7 certificates in the same country, the cat must compete in another country (Norway resp. Sweden).

 

Annex 6 to the show rules - Mexico, Argentina and Brazil

The following exemptions for Mexico, Argentina and Brazil are valid for 5 years until 31.12.2004:
All certificates to be granted in one country:

International Champion/Premier 3 CACIB/CAPIB under 3 different judges
Grand International Champion/Premier 6 CAGCIB/CAGPIB under 4 different judges
FIFe American Champion/Premier 9 FAC/FAP under 5 different judges

Annex 7 to the show rules - French exhibitors

French exhibitors can enter their cats registered in the French FFF/LOOF from the age of nine months in classes 9 and 10 at shows held in France.

Annex 8 to the show rules - Belarus

Because of the economic situation, the following exemption to Article 2f) is granted to Belarus for three years until 31.12.2005:

At least 100 cats must be entered for competition and listed in the catalogue at an international show.
